I've been playing football since I was 6 years old. In 2010 I went to Serbia to pursue a career in football and it was at this period in time where I started experiencing pain in my lower back which gradually developed down my glutes and hamstring to the knee. Eventually I developed extensive pain inhibiting my movement and running abilities. I was taking pain killers that only provided temporary relief.
I was sent for x-rays and the scans showed I had a herniated disc at level L4-L5 ( between 4th and 5th lumbar vertebrae). I also had a bulging disc between 5th lumbar and 1st sacral. I was recommended surgery by a nuerosurgeon and was advised to give up sport.
After I returned to South Africa I was advised to go to Rado Kitanov, a physiotherapist at Greenside Clinic. I started treatment with him 12TH August 2013. The treatment included spinal manipulation, dry needling, remedial massage, electro therapy and core strengthening.
I gradually returned to football training after a year and for the last year I have been training pain free.
On the most recently taken x ray my discs have fully recovered( the inter vertebrae discs spaces are now normal).
I really appreciate what Rado has done for me. I'm currently studying at Witwatersrand University where I also play varsity football. I'm grateful for the lifestyle I am now able to live.
